2010 Proposed Budget:  Kris Hunter briefly went over the proposed budget for this year, the only item that was changes was the funds for the Top 8.  She added that she was a little concerned that the expenses exceed what the “potential” projected income, granted the club had a carry over of $4,300. Kris expressed that we try to stay within the budget so when/ if we don’t make the projected income for the Fish Fry the club would not take a big hit at the end.  (Note: The 2010 Projected Budget will be attached to the newsletter.)

In regards to the budget, a members made suggestion about using the dead fish for the fish fry but it was later said that it is illegal to sell game fish, plus, you are only suppose to have a limited of 5 fish/ person in possession.  Brian mentioned a few concerns about who would be responsible for cleaning, transporting and storing the fish.  Another suggested about using the dead fish for the picnic to save money.

Brian asked the club about rejoining METRO, he feels that we need to support this organization. Vote held, motion passed.

A discussion was held on TABC in regards to continuing our membership, in which, many have expressed concerns that TABC has not done enough or anything for our club. Brian announced that Ed Calderone, President of TABC, will be attending the March meeting to discuss matters concerning TABC.  Brian opened the floor for discussion, Jeff Mergele began the discussion about the lake Top 8 was fishing and the safety concern he and Chris Short ,then president, had not just for UCBC but for all clubs involved. Both went to Mr. Calderone and expressed their concern but felt that Mr. Calderone ignored both.  Stan Foltz expressed UCBC supports TABC tremendously but UCBC doesn’t get anything back.  Dave Cole commented that all the entry fees for State Tournaments are given back 100% return to the clubs.  Chris Short stated that last year when he was president, he remembers asking for a TABC report but only received the same report at every meeting.  Chris also added that he’s attended meetings and at any of those times, he was never asked to express his opinion, suggestions or concerns.  Brian was pleased with the responses and feed back and was glad the club discussed their opinions and concerns.  A decision to rejoin TABC will be made at the March meeting.

Robin McFarlane announced that she will organize a meeting with Bass Federation to ask if they can attend our April meeting to learn more about their organization.

REPORTS

METRO:  Dave Cole announced the elected officers for 2010 are as follows: Chairman – Harvey Holmes, Vice-Chairman – Brenda Merith, Treasurer – Dave Cole, and Secretary – Deborah Gussman.  Membership dues are due, $25, club rosters are also being requested.  Woodie Taylor, of SABC, has reserved a space at Amistad for the City Tournament. He will also look into Falcon as well.

TABC:  Randi Wayland announced that the first Youth Tournament will be held on April 10th @ Falcon.  Randi added that American Rodsmiths will be sponsoring the first tournament , the second tournament will be held at Sam Rayburn on June 12th and Lake Fork Tackle will sponsor that tournament. Rules, regulations and applications are available on the TABC website www.tabconline.org.  If you are interested or have questions, please contact Randi Wayland at (210) 415-1264 or Dave Cole at (210) 274-1588.

HISTORY:  Dave Cole gave a brief report on Falcon and how much it has changed, 10 yrs ago UCBC fished Falcon in Feb. and 1st, 2nd & 3rd were either at or right about 30lb stringers.  July 2008 UCBC set quite a few records, he remembers 9 stringers over 40lbs.  He asked the club what the difference was – it was water levels.  He concluded that water levels do make a difference in bass fishing.
