OLD BUSINESS:

Annual Fundraiser:    Fundraiser will be on August 23rd.  Dave Cole stated that he is concerned as he has only a handful of items for the auction.  Please get your auction items to him as soon as possible.  His goal is to have at least 60 items be auctioned, this is a very important event for our club so please invite anyone and everyone so we can have a good turn out at our fundraiser this year!

Club Picnic:    Picnic is on July 19th at Pickerel Park in Schertz from 4-10 pm.  Sign up sheet was passed around—please don’t forget your food items!!!.  Please keep in mind that alcoholic beverages will be allowed, however, no glass containers will allowed in the park.  FLIPPING CONTEST!!!  Get your favorite flipping rod and start practicing, cost is $5, a TEMPEST ROD WILL BE GIVEN AWAY TO THE WINNER!!!!  (Map will be attached to the newsletter.)

Christmas Party:    Christmas party will be on December 13th at the VFW in Schertz.  The club decided to hire a DJ, deposit has been made.  DJ will cost $300.  Further information will be given at a later date.

NEW BUSINESS:

Scholarship Fund:      Letters of recommendations/forms are now being accepted at this time.  Current members and their family members are eligible.  August 1st is the deadline to get all entries in to Chris Short.  Please contact Chris at (210) 244-3146 or at cbshort1@sbcglobal.net

Larry Martin gave a brief overview on the status of the Top 8 for State Tournament.  Reservations have been made at the River Forest Inn and all rooms are downstairs.  He added that he would like to discuss an increase of the “normal” funding for the Top 8 this year.  He stated that this would be necessary due to the increased cost of gas.  Alan Parks said that will be tabled until the August meeting.

Raffle:                At the end of August meeting a Tempest Rod & Pflueger reel combo will be raffled off, make sure to put $1 in the box!

REPORTS:

METRO:   Dave Cole announced that Boysville will be held on July 27th at Live Oak City Park.  This will be a 1 day event; kids will fish until noon then food will be served.  If you have old fishing rods/ tackle, please bring them. To reiterate, there will be no background check required.   Dave Cole, on behalf of the President, Chris Short, is looking for volunteers to help with this event.  Dave asked for a head count of volunteers which 10 people volunteered, he stated that Chris would like for UCBC to make a good show for this event.  Please try to come out and support both the club and Boysville.  Dave noted that the Town & Country Optimist Club will have some nice door prizes for the club members that helped and participated.  If you have any questions please contact Chris at 210-244-3146.  (Map, rules & instructions will be attached to the newsletter.)

TABC:    The TABC State Tournament will be at Stillhouse/Belton on September 27th & 28th. Weigh in sites will be at both Stillhouse and Belton.  The fish will be weighed on the water, thus  minimizing fish kills.  Teams may launch anywhere on the lake but will need to check in at the designated weigh in sites at each lake; weigh in times are (Saturday) 2:00 pm and (Sunday) 1:00 pm.  Ice will be provided for the club members, meetings and meals will be held at the Expo Center in Belton.  More information will be provided by the team captain at a later date.  Dave announced that TABC has a scholarship fund which is similar to the UCBC scholarship fund but this one includes all clubs that are associated with TABC.  There are 4 openings available, deadline to get letters of recommendations in is August 1st.  You may turn letters in to either Dave Cole or Stan Foltz.  Dave added that TABC donated $500 to Boysville.

HISTORY REPORT:   Dave Cole concluded that in the history of this bass club it has never had 2 officers missing in the same meeting.   Our President and Treasurer were both MIA for this meeting.
